Be wary of anyone pitching Artificial Intelligence as a marketing magic pill. Struggling with targeted lead generation? AI will fix that. Your database is a mess? AI can fix that.
Food marketers can call their products ‘healthy’ because there is limited definition and understanding of what healthy means. Low-fat, high-sugar used to be ‘healthy’. Is raw food healthier? Vegetarian? Vegan? Organic?
AI is doing amazing things, however, they are incredibility targeted and need huge amounts of training. Just adding an algorithm to software does not create artificial intelligence.
The best way to think of current AI is that it might be able to take something you do, that is repetitive and teachable and do it faster. You are great at analyzing data, and can teach someone how to do it? AI can do that. You can interpret whether tweets are sad or happy and teach someone how to do it? AI can do that.
If you don’t know how to do it, or wouldn’t be able to teach someone else, don’t assume that AI can do it for you.
